What I've been up to
I haven't been on here to much, been busy building this years ice race car.I sold the class and overall winning civic from last year and I've prepped a Geo Metro-yep I love a challenge!.
The 3 cyl has been yanked and a twin cam 13b from the swift gt installed,I used the transmission from the 3cyl(hard to believe it fits but it does) as it has a shorter final drive.I have a chip that raises the rev limit from 6700 to 8600 and cams to allow power to be made up to around 8k.Bored throttle body round out the engine mods, should make a little screamer for sure.
I'm running supra wheels so I had to wide body it to cover the tires,6 point cage added, lexan windows and everything I can remove thats not needed is gone. The fuel tank was removed a small custom tank built and mounted beside the rad for better weight distribution, well better for ice traction anyways.
This I just bought a 1990 325is with a '98 S52 M3 engine swap amoung other goodies.Goes very well(dyno'd at 219hp at the wheels),looking forward to spring when I can drive it. :D

Don't let a bmw guy see this, they are anal enough to get pissy about calling them a beemer-I mean really everyone knows a beemer is a bmw motorcycle and a bimmer is a car.daveskatesallday wrote:i love the beamer

Very cool sounding setup on the metro Tom. When you first said dual cam 13B I had to stop for a minute. My mind immediately went to Rotary Land.
Nice looking BIMMER too.

Re: What I've been up to
Thanks Jonas,I only hope I can get it to work as well as the civic did.On paper its(now) improved in every area over the civic but I don't race on paper so..... :D
Hope to have the Bimmer home soon, its still sitting in my buddies trailer,so I can assess what I want to change. The car is too low(it bumpsteers a bit) and the springs too stiff(it hops from bump to bump with dampers not suited to the spring rates).
I'm going to clay bar,wax and buff it 1st so I can just sit and look at it for awhile every night.

I can't say as I blame you. I've considered getting into a used M series myself but I keep gravitating back to Toyotas or vintage/classic domestics.kevlar corolla wrote:...

Looking forward to seeing your ice racer.
Some pretty radical stuff coming from the Suzuki Swift community.
The motor though looks to be an open deck block...hmmm.

Re: What I've been up to
Yes the suzuki engine has earned a reputation for being a tough little bugger, they say dead stock internals will survive 9k all day every day for years. They seem to like boost and can make some very heathy #'s from only 1.3ltrs.Mine has sat for quite awhile(think years not months)and when it fired for the 1st time not a trace of oil smoke and it has over 200,000 kms on it.
Mine with cams, bored tb,better exhaust and chip will still only be making maybe 115hp so its no barn burner. They have lightness in their favour though,I'm going to corner weight it once the front suspension is in and I think with 6 point cage and door bars it'll be a little under 1700lbs.I'll let you know how close my guess is.

Re: What I've been up to
Thanks, the car is now on the wheels and ready to go racing.Looks pretty agressive for what started as a 3cyl geo metro I must say.
Took some of the e30 today as well,I want to start to clay bar and then the required detailing steps from there tomorrow.
Oh yeah,happy new year!.
Later,
Tom

Digging the geo Tom. I agree with Dave, the E30 looks very nice. Mmm, mmm, good.
Maybe some shots of the GEO interior and cage?
