12A-AE86 build thread
its only in the tear-down stage right now, I'm working on gathering money together to pay for parts to get it back together. Bearings, new carb, seal kit, etc.dr.occa wrote:also, shouldn't this thread be entitled "12A-AE86 tear-down thread" instead?
yeah, well. Such is true, but if it were going to be a swap, I really liked the rotary, and really wanted to learn about its ways. So I supposed it wouldnt be that bad.nt66 wrote:Orlando I tought you hated/would never own a interracial swaped corolla
Although, I'm getting so many projects, I wont have enough space or money for my ultimate project: supra truck. 2J in a small taco chassis.
Goto time out, you said "catch my.... you know"dr.occa wrote:keep in mind, you didn't before discovering the one in your newly acquired "86" and since it's not running, you're still not using one. "catch my drift"?
And no, I knew about the unsprung clutch in my early days when I drove down past texas city to see oniel, and he had one.

I could see a rotary in a starlet because its so light and small... but in a corolla it makes me shake my head.
In a Tacoma, you do not need a 2JZ, the newer model engine can handle pretty good amounts of hp, easily taking 200whp on stock internals. A Hilux on the other hand you will want to find a 22RE, or even a 22RET. The 22RE can handle insane amounts of hp. People on the Celica GT-S website have claimed 250whp on stock internals, not just one person, more than 60. The 22RET is said to handle 300whp.

Thats pretty weak, seeing that you can get a low 420hp with stock everything. But for an extra 150$ you can balance the eccentric shaft and be able to push that further, and hit an easy 11krpm.Overdrift wrote:I could see a rotary in a starlet because its so light and small... but in a corolla it makes me shake my head.

2cycle ftw.
Somebody should make a 2cycle 4 cylinder for a car would have insane top end.
