Re: engine harness differences (zenki vs kouki)
The obvious difference between them in the engine bay will be the service connector:
Zenki - 3 or 4 2 wire/terminals (connectors are round and one is resembles a T-shape)
Kouki - multi-wire/terminal (connector is a rectangular enclosure)
Both connectors are found on the pass side of the vehicle.

i think the wiper motor connector is different as well
Re: engine harness differences (zenki vs kouki)
can someone post some pics of said difference? I want to make sure I'm getting the right harness

Re: engine harness differences (zenki vs kouki)
if its engine harness that goes from ecu to engine itself doesnt matter if its kouki or zenki just make sure your headlight/or i like to call engine bay harness (one with fusebox) and dash harness are the same either both have to be kouki or both zenki
and as of rear again either or is compatible but if your anal then make them all zenki or all kouki i know because im running a zenki dash and bay and kouki engine
heres a link http://forums.club4ag.com/zerosearch" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
research shit out of this on club4ag they have alot of tech reference there if needed but

Re: engine harness differences (zenki vs kouki)
Had a problem while wiring a hachi a few days ago. Problem was the big black plug against the firewall that connects the dash harness to the engine harness. On the dash side there was a missing wire (+12V) that feeds all the injectors with power. It was the wire in the very center of the plug. (D-8) in the books.
Porblem was that the engine harness was Zenki and the dash harness was Kouki. On Kouki cars this inj feed is located near the battery.
