That front lip is indicative of a GTS unless it was removed from one and transplanted over to an SR5 chassis. The VIN should indicate whether or not it's an SR5.
The way the front grill extends from headlight to headlight is indicative of a kouki (1986) model. The smoked styled front parkers/corners and headlight eye lids are also specific to the kouki models along with the black trim around the tail lights.
I believe the AE86 only came in a coupe in 1987 (still kouki).

Was their any difference between the GTS and SR5 along the lines of fuel? tank ? etc?

You can pick up a 12 gallon Summit Racing fuel cell for $109 + change for shipping. Cost as much as an aftermarket OEM replacement.
