Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
so right now you do have an igf singnal from one of the coils and it still doesn't fire?
I am unsure what happens when an ignitor doesn't have a coil to fire, it may not send an IGF signal at all.

make sure your confirmation signal is from JUST ONE of the coils. NOT FROM ALL OF THE COILS.
Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
I do have one IGf signal from the coil. I does fire right up, but it cuts at about 5k revs. I also have another IGf signal from another cop to my sgi-8 to drive my tach. But the tach cuts at 3.5k revs.
I am not successful at running the cops without the coil/igniter. I pm'ed a member in club4ag who had similar problems I am having. Basically, he just put back his coil/igniter and the fuel cut is gone.
Im just going to try to copy the wiring diagram on the first page of this thread.

did you also check your CEL codes?
have you tried disconnecting the IGf signal to the sgi-8 to see if it'll run up that way?

Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
Hey guys picked up some coils from a 2002 Honda civic for 100 bucks but the only thing is It dident have the plugs so I looked over and a accord had them I checked them out and they fit so he let me have them with the coils if they fit I'm good right I should not have any problems? It's the 3 plug by the way.
question will you be able to run the haltech e6x whith the cop system and if so. If I decide to go with the e6x will you be able to install it jonas?

AE86Silverred - the best way to find out is contact Haltech. Installing is easy, tuning is another story.
Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
I just want to update my cop project. after a long delay, I finally got my dli cop's running. What I differently was:
-exactly copied the cop diagram on this page
-mounted my coil and igniter properly
-mounted my ecu properly
that's it! ran all the way to 8k+ no problem. i didn't even put my autometer tach back because i have stock tach.
to summarize: cop's will not run by itself. you need coil and igniter to run it properly

Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
Hi guys, I'm new here, so be gentle. I will be running a Microtech ECU with the 4Xbox (ignitor with 4 outputs) My question is: since the COPs of the current Toyota all include an ignitor each, what COPs can I use that do not have a in-built ignitor? I am still new to this, so does my question make sense or am I being stupid?

Re: Alternative Ignition: COPs - batch fire
No, it's a good question okkie.
I believe the 1MZFE cops that I cited in this thread are igniter less. They're the old 2 wire style. You can also look into COPs from the late 97+ Econoline, 98+ Crowns, etc...
Also, I believe you can use even the newer COPs from a 1zz, 2zz, 1nz, etc... just use the +12v and ground connections only.
