rear coilovers

so i know how to convert the front strut housings to coilovers but how do you do the rear? i have looked this up but all i can find is the t3 site that sells the already converted struts and the sport compact car magazine article that shows pictures but doesnt talk about what to use to build the rears

so i was wondering if any one on this site knows what to use to build these and where to buy the parts to do this? i like to do this kind of stuff and if i build the fronts then i want the rears to match. any input will help thanx

I saw some guy on somewhere use a hole saw and cut his spring perches and weld in adjusters. let me browse around and see if I can find it-

a lot of people use camaro struts....... You should do a search on club4ag.com there are tons of write ups on there

yea i was planning on using the camero rear struts but i wanted to convert to the coilovers cuz im not really into the rear spring and seperate shock thing if i cant find it i will prolly just save up to get the t3s
edit: i just looked this up on club4ag and couldnt find any thing but for sale adds

The thing about the 86 is that the tabs that hold the strut arnt made to support the weight of the car thats why most of the setups are a seprate spring and strut

yea iv read that too but iv also read that it isnt as weak as thought you can go a little while before it needs to be reinforced

I would never do it just because it would be easy for it to break at a event and ruin the day

my car's been running on a unified coilover/adj. shock setup for the past 5 years. no problems with the suspension. just with the engine :cry:

are you talking about front and rear? cuz 54 years with rears is good enough for me to go by especially if you dont have any kind of bracing for the strut tops
