The Japanesse Mule (TE31)
The Japanesse Mule (TE31)
I got this corolla a while back but now I want to turn it into my daily. Here are some pictures of what it looked like when I got it.
I have some goodies that I want to install but first I have to clean out some of the clutter and remove some of the fat.

Hey, nice TE31. I picked up my TE38 wagon from Round Rock a few years back.
Is the A/C still working in yours and what's with those "skewer & slice 5hit up I run over" rails in the last pic?

He he,,,, yeah, those were the first to come off.... along with the 500lbs bumpers... but thanks man,,,
It did not come with any A/C parts other than the controls for the heater/vent. I am, however, going to install an aftermarket universal kit that is about $900. I'll let you know when I get it so you can check it out.

I don't understand how you guys in the Houston area of Hill Country can live without A/C, but that's just me.
Nice peanut BTW

Wow, nice find! The exterior looks to be in great shape... the interior looks to be a ... project. Let me know if you want any help with that. I'd offer to tint that non-a/c'd puppy for you but it actually appears to have a decent film job on it already (but tint always looks good from a distance).
I've always liked the older corollas, always have thoughts of trying to drop a 22R in one for some reason, not sure why.
Anyway, again, nice looking car. Hope to see more on this thread.

Re: The Japanesse Mule (TE31)
Here are some more pics I took a few days ago and today,,, I just love the black & white pics
I have worked mostly on the engine, changed a few gaskets, painted the valve cover and retreaded a bunch of stuff to use new bolts, I also painted the headers. Changed the front and rear seals on the tranny and installed a new clutch. I also added the Hurst shifter (which I love).
Installed 93 Miata Seats ,,, which are pretty nice,,,, and 2" lap belts
I rebuild the front suspension and brakes. I used the Ground Control Coilovers, shorted the strut housings and replaced the shock inserts with Audi Quattro's. Also replaced the wheel bearings, added stainless steel-braided Break hoses, replaced the pads with ABC pads and installed drilled rotos with AE86 Calipers. I tried to lower the back with 1" blocks but it wasn't enough.... (so if anyone wants these 1" lowering blocks - they are yours)....

I dig that Hurst shift knob. It's the American flare in import styling.
