2jz? or 2jzgt?

Post by 2JZ_AE86 »

hey people im new here and I needed some opinions on my ae86.....i bought a ae86 from my cousin its a 86 coupe with a 2jz n/a 6 speed its not finished i think it only needs wiring and a couple minor things but i was wondering if i should just go with a turbo motor but if i do that would i need to reinforce the chassis, better suspension, different rear end? any ideas???

You'll definitely need to go with sturdier axles or rear end all together.

Chassis reinforcement is strictly up to you. The 2JZGTE isn't going to rip the AE86 chassis apart unless you were putting down 500+ whp with really stick tires. Then I'd worry about serious chassis twisting.

Man, I say just stick with the 2jzge. I had a gs300 with the 2jzge and that moved ok, & could break the rear end lose pretty easy(auto). That's a 3300lb car!

In a little 86, with all that weight in the front, you're already gonna have traction problems. IMO.
