what i do is take the old u joint that you wont be using and leave it on the bottom of shaft tightened up then i take a torch and heat up the shaft then take my mini sledge hammer 3-4 wacks at the u joint and the intermidate shft fall right out , and keep the new one near by its eaiser to push in the new one while its still hot

heres a few more pictures.

just a little steering knuck comparison.
Image

got the radiator and the fans mounted. no worries I'm going to take it back out before I put the engine in. Just had to make a few mods to it.
Image

A little rear end upgrade! spool and 30mm axles
Image

this was taken last week. Once I fix the HOPEFULLY last f-bombed up bolt hole in this block It'll be going in. Need to buy a new drill bit as I don't have the correct size to helicoil that fuckin thing.
Image

ball joint was kicking my ass when I realized the boot had a tear in it. I was a little pissed... so I just sat on my ass and didn't do a whole lot trying to think what I could do. I'm just going to go back to advanced auto tomorrow and tell them lookie here! now fiss it

also not pictured is the manual rack in with the T3 tie rods/steering knuckles on the drivers side. I'll get them up here hopefully soon.

he's made more headway with his swap than I have(of course he's had all his stuff longer!). I'm at a stalemate til the adapter comes in. But this weekend I'll make some headway.

lol I had to wait on parts the end of last week and over the weekend. damn ball joints came in yesterday.... one had a tear in the grease seal fresh out tha box... YAY! now I have to wait til the 12th when the new one will come in. Didn't make it down to get bolts because I had to deal with their asses in getting that exchanged. So hopefully I can get bolts tomorrow and at least have one side done with the suspension.

Plans/goals for tonight that are about to start in 5 min after I post this...

alt wires extended, bolt hole helicoil'd, flywheel clutch on, and swap the sandwich plate/oil pan so I can utilize an oil cooler once I get it from Shubert. hehe depending on the shipping I might just throw the stock one back on for now.

YAY Progress haha. I'm still hunting for 4 M12x1.25 bolts to finish off the suspension... no one has them in the correct length I need. Anyways More updates/pictures

Got the Radiator and fans put in mounted solid! Going to work on the automatic turn on/off wiring soon.

Extending out the Alternator wires... there was a lot of extra wire so I cut it down to size. Some people leave the extra and just roll it up. I'm hoping to have a fairly clean engine bay when I get done with it.

Moving the O2 sensor and also removing the alternator wires from the engine harness

Image

Just seeing what I need for the alternator here... lol

the 4AGE oil pan was a little filthy... so it got sandblasted! Glad I know a friend that made his own sandblasting machine! woot! Can't wait to get this back today either.

Guy out in Minneapolis that I found via facebook... crazy but anyways he has an AW11 4agze alternator bracket that didn't have A/c or P/s. Picked that up for 50 shipped. should be here by the end of the week or beginning of next.
mooreofit wrote:thats one motivated individual.
There's a couple reasons why.

1. The first drift even up north here is April 28th or 29th
2. I have to break the engine in before I can beat on it... sad but it should be worth it.
3. I have a limited time in the garage I'm at currently.

That damn thing is SOLID too. I have to mash down the factory brackets that actually hold it in though... made it work with a 5 pound sledge hammer lol.
