I'm down to the last bushings, the 5 link. the 4 rear control arms where easy, but this thing is a pain!
Re: M7 87 DD SR5
haven't updated in a while, and today was a big bump in the road.
To bring everyone up to speed, i have done a full poly bushing replacement on all of the suspension components, and found an interesting way of pushing them out. This is how i got my old rubber out.

my old 4ac engine block and a main cap bolted down

worked like a charm

my engine is pretty much done

and i got my 8 bolt flywheel. however this has turned into a real headache.

it was not a GTS flywheel. Its a supercharged 4ag flywheel. It made my life a living hell. My clutch kit wont bolt to it, nor will a normal GTS version. I had autozone order my a supercharged clutch kit, and I really hope it works. Way to unhappy today, I was really hoping to get the car running this weekend. looks like next.

anyone have 8 flywheel bolts?

I'm basing it off of my sr5 flywheel, it actually is smaller in diameter. if my sr5 flywheel can fit, this one should.
Re: M7 87 DD SR5
unfortunatly, it looks like i am stuck wiht this flywheel. i am willing to trade for a stock gts flywheel though
Re: M7 87 DD SR5
I'll check after work tomorrow, I may have one but you'll want to take a wirewheel and get the surface rust off. My cell is 9727046004. Hit me up after 4 pm

Re: M7 87 DD SR5
arent the sr5 and gts flywheels incompatible with eachothers crankshafts?

i believe so.my 4afe has a six bolt pattern and the ge has an 8. im sure the 4ac is the same as the fe motor.

Re: M7 87 DD SR5
bump 5/25/2012, time for a real update.
the car is almost done!

that trans is heavy!
firs time i have seen it lowered on the 13's. i like them, gonna keep them. I want find the center caps, then paint the inside of the wheel white

but i have one problem holding me up from starting the car up, vacuum line. The haynes manual isn't clear enough, and some stuff i have just isnt there. My biggest problem area is the passenger side, this is where i am stuck:
mainly hear, and anything having to do here

I can find nothing about this part that i have circled in orange

not as lost, but still confused

haynes only has a picture for the early CA cars, mine is a later, so most of the stuff is changed

and an in general picture

Think anyone could snap some picture for me, mainly in the areas i have posted above? Would like to get the car running tomorrow before my trip to japan.

Re: M7 87 DD SR5
just a small update, got the car on the correct timing, and now the oil pressure gauge is on tjhe fritz. Did some searching, sounds pretty common for a 20+ year old gauge to go crazy. I'll rent a mechanical oil pressure gauge to see where its at, then forget about it. It used sit in the middle, and go to the 3/4 mark when the engine reved. Not it usually sits above the L and goes about to the 1/4 mark. no bad noises, and the gauge sometimes likes to do a full sweep when the car is set to "ON" wiht the car off. Weird. Today I'll proably do some cleaning up. I also think my tachometer need is off. My digital multi meter can check rpm, and when it says its doing 800rpm, the cars tach shows closer to 1500rpm. i may rent another multimeter to see which is right, though another 4ac 86 my be better to compare it too. anyone wanna come over and chill, i got beer n soda

Re: M7 87 DD SR5
Ah, so what was the fix for getting your timing correct? Did you restab with gear slightly off tooth for more adjust-ability?
Pick up an inexpensive oil pressure gauge to see closer to actual oil pressure.
You're too far but I'll lift my beverage to toast your ignition fix. Cheers!

Re: M7 87 DD SR5
Well, on the part of the dizzy body where it bolts in, i simply used my dremel to make it slightly loner. now it is at 5BTDC for sure. I was using my multimeter wrong, but my car still idles too high. I have a can of carb cleaner, so i will be checking for leaks. I also checked my wiring for my oil pressure gauge, it was almost completely broken through. a quick re-solder and it is reading fine again.
