the way you can check for the pump like i found out mine was bad is take the line off of the fuel filter and crank the car if no fuel spills your pump is bad which it most likely will because rarely is it ever the fuse. and encase it does happen to be the pump here is a link for a damn good deal on one same one i bought and it works beautifully and wont cost 250 or 299 dollars http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FUEL-PUM ... enameZWD1V

if u cranked it with the line off then i am 99% sure its the pump because its like normally never the fuse the link i put up is like the cheapest one u can get and its supports up to 600hp and it only cost like 80 bux mine is working just fine and never gave me any problems plus it comes with a warranty and you can trust it because its new those older 25 year old farty fuel pumps are bound to start giving out on you eventually.

um the fuel pump wiring fails often on ae86's you should hook the fuel pump up to direct 12v power and see if it turns on before buying a new pump

I know a guy with a 240 back in H-town where the power going to his pump rubbed through to the frame, and when he takes off, it shorts and blows the fuse.

He put a pool noodle around the wires

it usually not the wiring but the relay/fuses combinations or the ecu is having trouble getting power. The fuel pump wont come on if the ecu doesnt have power

best thing is to trace the fuel pump wiring from the rear all the way to where the problem lays (i.e. the relay switch). if you're going to wiring it directly to 12v, make sure to wire it to 12v when ignition is on and with a cut off switch near at hand (and on-off toggle) and include an in-line fuse. the on-off switch can also act as an anti-theft "deterrent" so long as it's hidden from view.

yeah but somtimes its not that simple on our cars the afm turns the fuel pump on when the flapper door moves. So if the problem lies in the ecu wiring the hard wiring the fuel pump on wont fix the problem because the ecu still wont work. If your car wont start and the fuel pump is on check to make sure the check engine light comes on when you put the key in the on position

yes, the AFM door/flap may hamper this "mod". forgot about that doo-hickey. AFM OBD-1 is inconvenient.

it will fix it if the problem is fuel pump wiring but if the ecu/afm are not working right then the fuel pump wont turn on
