New engine options for my SR5?
New engine options for my SR5?
The longer i sit here thinking abt it, the more i lean towards swapping out the 4AC and blowing it up with some dynamite.
the 1UZ is the new big thing to do, and i think its very cool, but is it more practical than a 4AGZE? Ive been toying with the idea of a 4AGZE for a couple of years so immediately this was the first place i wanted to go. What incentive is there to having a 1UZ vs a 4AG forced induction setup? the aftermarket is minuscule for the 1UZ, am i right?
also, im trying to keep an open mind about what im going to do next with my car. the impossible might even happen and ill keep it 4AC
ps. i want a Levin

Re: New engine options for my SR5?
the v8 has twice the hp of the 4ag stock, there is a huge aftermarket for it, and going ze requires alot of little tedious work(as does the 1uz). In my Levin I'm going 1uz and eventually supercharging it.

Re: New engine options for my SR5?
I'm right there with you manifesto I want to ditch the stock (i have a largeport) from my understanding the main benefit is with the 1UZ you just swap it in and you have instant power although it requires a bit of fab work for the headers to fit right (I believe they have to be custom made). Personally the thing I like about the GZE is it's the same size as the original engine (4AG) you don't have to worry about custom motor mounts and what not and can make a decent amount of power if you turbo it or stay with the S/C. It really depends how much hp/tq you want and what it's for.

Well, it's currently running in my kouki GTS coupe right now...
Engine: 20v Blacktop with Toyota COP ignition and stock coil and igniter so the stock tach works. Not sure which filter setup, but it's either a single long filter setup or a T3 Trumpet and Individual Uni filter setup.
Ecu: Stock with Dr. Tweak Converted Harness
Header: OBX 20v RWD Header
Transmission: Stock T-50
Clutch & Pressure Plate: from what i remember...Disc is ACT Street with ACT Stage 2 pressure plate (something like that)
Not sure what else you want to know...in any case, you can email me at mandm177@gmail.com if youre really interested.
