race seats.....

Post by 86boy »

OK I'm kinda leaning towards buying a race just for me currently. Now this is something I'm not sure about. I know there is different sizing (width especially). What do I need to look for/into when buying a race seat? Something under 1000 preferably for 1. I've kinda looked at bride/sparco seats but that's about it. Also about seat rails I want the seat to sit lower in the car since I am about 6' 2". I'm not sure if there is stuff made for ae86 which I'd imagine there is
.... just not sure where to find the stuff so I can bolt it in. Id like it to be semi comfortable as well. Any advice for a race seat newb?!

super impressed with my bride reclineable replica that i use for my passenger seat, and my bride replica (i think) bucket seat that i use for the driver's side. You can read about all of the pitfalls concerning safety with these replicas etc etc etc, but i, along with others that have sat in it, have been very impressed.

If you want to go lower placement, don't get the Buddy Club seat rails. you'll probably have to find you some authentic bride super low down rails, or make some yourself.

werd. I was actually contemplating on buying a legit bride/recaro/etc. I'm just not sure on fitting my ass in one..... Let alone where to start looking to buy one... where I know it'll fit in the corolla.

I have a bride rep. I'm 5'11" and I'm too tall for it. 34in waist barley fits in it. But I am running universal rails on some custom brackets, which are super easy to make for the 86. Like scarily easy lol. and the seat belt bolts to the body of the car so that makes thing super nice.

It's really easy to make seats sit lower then stock on old corollas.

Fixed back or reclinable?

I picked up a pair of no-name kevlar seats about 8 years ago. Chopped the seat brackets off of my old SR5 seats, fixed them to a pair of straightened 90°, pre-drilled brackets and voila!
