you can get into RC drifting with buying one of the RTR (Ready To Run) kits for 2-300 dollars. The HPI E10 is one of the introductory level cars. The battery life kinda sucks with the gearing they have. You can buy a spur gear, and a pinion gear to fix that though. Or you can go the stupid expensive (but stupid fun) way like I did and drop 2k into one of these bad boys, and have some pretty outstanding results. I can drive my car for about 30-45 minutes with the plastic wheels, and about 20-25 minutes with the rubber tires (more grip yields higher RPMs in turn eats the battery faster) with lots of speed. It all depends on how much you wanna spend. I bought a bare chassis (no elecronics/body/wheels/etc), and then bought all the electronics piece by piece until I had everything. I'm also thoroughly addicted to it. I haven't been bored with the car yet... except when I broke it, and couldn't find the parts.
Thanks to Dr. Occa I was able to get the parts I needed, and put it back together. It's just as fun as it was before it broke. lol My advise buy a chassis that is sold here in America as the parts are easier to find.

Re: real or not?!?
Yea those things are cool as fk. Too expensive for my blood though. If I had 2k to spare, you would have seen my 86 at the last drift event.
There are no spare parts, only unfinished projects.

Re: real or not?!?
yeah you can get into RC drift cars at a fair price. Just not the best of equipment.. as with most things these days you get what you pay for. lol. My friends kid loves that HPI E10 that I gave to him. Need to change the gears so the battery lasts a little longer, but outside of that he has a blast with it. lol
