Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
Just ordered me a set from Diamond Racing and I've noticed most people run open end lugs and what looks like longer studs, my question is what type of lugs do I need and do I need to extend my studs to work with these wheels or will the stock studs work.
Also can someone point me in the direction of some fly lugnuts, my stock rusted set aren't going to cut it.

Re: Diamond Racing Lugs/Studs question
I've been doing some searching and found I need 12x1.5mm with a 45 degree seat.
I'm looking for some red lugs, do the gorillas come in different colors.

Re: Diamond Racing Lugs/Studs question
Got my diamonds in today and I'm quite disappointed in the quality.
1 has a small dent and and some powder coating scraped off (probably due to UPS).
1 has chips of powder coating coming off.
All 4 have runs in the powder coat.
I guess you get what you pay for but I have never heard or seen anyone complaining about any quality issues, I'm kind of bummed out. Also, I'm still needing lug nuts if anyone knows somewhere local I can buy some with a 45 degree seat.

Re: Diamond Racing Lugs/Studs question
thats no good have you contacted diamind racing and let them know the quality issue? i have not heard anything about quality either.
Re: Diamond Racing Lugs/Studs question
I work nights so I went to bed before they opened and after they closed, but I'm off tomorrow so I'll give em a call then. I don't mind the runs in the powdercoating but the flaking really sucks.

Just sent them an email explaining the issue quite nicely. I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them up and let you know how things go.

I overslept today . I want to take the pictures when lighting conditions are optimal so I'll have them posted up tomorrow afternoon.

Here's the one with the chipped powder coating.
All 4 have these drops in that crevice.
All 4 have this spot and a run all the way down the barrel.
I couldn't get a picture to show how thin the powder coat is on one of the barrels, that and chips are the only thing that really sucks to me.

Re: Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
you can use any tapered seat lug nut with the right thread pitch. If you want red ones, go to O'Reillys and get a set from them. As far as longer studs, I've heard the IS300 fit perfectly and are 10mm longer.
Re: Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
advantage of working in a parts store: I just went and checked the IS300 studs, they're the exact same as stock AE86 ones... so this is obviously a misnomer.

Re: Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
I went with Landcruiser studs myself which helped when I slapped on a pair of 5mm spacers.
Re: Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
I'm running IS300 studs and they work great. 60mm. Open end lug nuts. I'm running Bassetts up front and they are awesome.
The Bart steel wheels I ordered had the same problems so I sent them back. Bassett welds the face to barrel as well so you don't get that ugly weld coming through on the front.

Re: Diamond Racing stud questions and quality issues.
I'm running IS300/Supra ARP wheel studs. I noticed that Diamond Racing's revised website states that if you're using 12mm studs then you should use a 60* lug nut. I ordered a set of open end lugs from Summit. Nothing too special, just something to keep the wheels on for now.
"Stud Hole Sizes:
4 bolt: 9/16" for 1/2", 12mm or 7/16" studs (60 degree taper lug nuts)
5 bolt: (5x4.1/2, 5x4.3/4 ,5x5) 11/16" for 5/8" studs (45 degree taper racing lug nuts.)
All other 5 bolt: Patterns have 9/16" for 1/2" studs (60 degree taper lug nuts.)
6 & 8 bolt: 5/8" for 9/16" studs (60 degree taper lug nuts.)"
