oil catch can q's

ok so ive had a cheap ebay catch can. i removed it because there was condensation collecting inside the can and was mixing with oil. this made it very gross to drain the oil from the catch can. is this a normal thing with catch cans? does any one else have the same issues? im just curiouse if this is the nature of all catch cans.

I've heard people complain about it before. one guy put a small water separator filter in the feed line coming from the engine and said it helped immensely but still got some depending on the humidity.
