SR5/GTS Rear Axle Assembly to borrow in/near Houston?

Post by RotaSpinna69 »

With GTS axles getting WAY to hard to find along with Celica/Supra, I'm going "F" or "G" series truck axle. Yes it is overkill, but what other options do I have that are plentiful and inexpensive?! If anyone in the Houston area has a spare SR5/GTS axle laying around that I could borrow to make a jig, I would greatly appreciate it. I'd also be interested in buying a junk/gutted rear just for the mounting.

Thanks,

Andrew

Very cool, but I won't be using the Celica Supra rear and would still need the mounting points off the SR5/GTS rear. Thanks!

Does anyone have a spreadsheet/list/info on the different series of Toyota differentials? I've found different ones with a simple google search, but nothing really detailed. My question is, what exactly am I looking for to specify the rear end I need? Tacoma? Hilux? Tundra? T100? 2wd? 4wd? Does it matter...

The search continues!

Thanks,

Andrew

75-83 8" truck diff is same width(well, it's within an inch) of the factory ae86 diff. The 2wd is 5 lug and the 4wd is 6 lug. Celica Supra is 15mm wider than the ae86 diff.

May be picking up a '95 T100 rear axle assembly for $150 at my usual used parts guy. Gear ratio is 3.9:1, but according to the VIN it doesn't have LSD.

Should be bulletproof :)

Darn...just did some research and the T100 axle is 66.75" in width :/ Not going to work.

Back to square one...

They also have a 1994 4Runner rear end with 3.9:1 ratio. But, 4Runners 2wd OR 4wd are all 6-lug :/ Also, '86+ have a 58" width axle. Possibly too long for a swap? What is the factory Corolla? 56"?

From Pirate4x4.com.....

"Toyota Rear Axle Widths:
55" wide, '79-85 4wd trucks/4runners - 6 Lug
58" wide, '86-95 4wd trucks/4runners - 6 Lug
56" wide, '79-95 2wd Trucks - 5 Lug
60.75" wide, '95.5-up Tacomas/4runners
66.75" wide, '93-98 T100 trucks"

Going to the local yard this weekend! The hunt begins!

Thanks,

Andrew
