Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
WOW, 65K?! that has to be a typo. maybe 6,500. are people actually buying at these prices? i had no idea they were that much in demand. lol i do keep getting little notes on my windshield from people offering to buy my 86. i'm going to start collecting them.
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
No, and no. Same car was listed on autotrader for $120K a year ago when I was looking for mine. I contacted him to see if he accidentally put two extra zeros on there, and I got a very long and explicit response about how I insulted him and that is what the car is worth etc. That guy/girl is bat s*** crazy.SkabRock5 wrote:WOW, 65K?! that has to be a typo. maybe 6,500. are people actually buying at these prices?

Wonder where this one ends up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Corolla- ... ars_Trucks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
I was curious about that one too, so I followed it. The answer is $3500. The car was pretty close to immaculate with only 76K miles, but it was also an automatic.BeanBone wrote:Wonder where this one ends up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Corolla- ... ars_Trucks" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
Yep. I figured $3-4k since it's such a museum piece. Kinda crazy for a auto SR5 coupe!milchmann wrote:I was curious about that one too, so I followed it. The answer is $3500. If somehow it had sneaked under the radar and didn't get any bids, I was going to bid up to $1k
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
Beautiful 86 here. "A all original except for paint and wheels and exhaust" as you can clearly see. He's asking just a paltry 7500 for such an original stunner.

Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
That might be the ugliest most ruined 86 I have ever seen. A MKIV Supra spoiler molded in? And did he really have to rivet on the metal bands for the cloth roof cover?BeanBone wrote:Beautiful 86 here. "A all original except for paint and wheels and exhaust" as you can clearly see. Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
the drift tax is crazy, that is one riced out 86 with some expensive hub caps.
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
What would be considered a fair price for an 86 in overall good condition? Average price seems to be about 2grand.
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
This is what I came up with as "fair prices" while watching prices and looking form my car in late 2012 to early 2013. I was only looking for stock or slightly modified cars, so that is what this is for.SkabRock5 wrote:What would be considered a fair price for an 86 in overall good condition? Take off 20-30% but not more than $1k if it is an automatic.
1. Absolutely perfect showroom condition. $5-10K depending on model, original paint, etc.
2. No rust, nice paint, mechanically sound, but maybe a few door dings and/or noticeably used interior etc. $3-6K
3. No major body damage, mechanically sound, Decent paint, decent interior, several dings, and maybe very light surface rust. $3-4K
4. No major body damage, mechanically sound, Decent paint maybe some sun fade, decent interior, several dings, and severe rust that is NOT cronic and unsalvageble. $2-3K
5. Body but no frame damage and/or sever rust that is NOT cronic and unsalvageble, full interior, severely sun faded paint, questionable but running motor. $1-2K
6. Body but no frame damage and/or sever rust that is NOT cronic and unsalvageble, no or completely ruined interior, severely sun faded paint, questionable but running motor. $800-1500
7. Parts car. $1500-400 Depending on what is on the car.
Personally I was more interested in finding an unmolested car, so I went with #4, and payed higher end at $2500 for a solid running SR5, completely stock but worn out suspension, full decent interior, a dozen or so dings, and some not so great but very repairable rust from a leaky trunk seal and a leaky break MC/Booster.

15 bids at $2550. I would not pay $2.50 for that car ... that might be an exaggeration ...
Re: holy initial D tax'd ae86s....
I'd at least give $5 just so I could sawzall out the driver's inner fender and spare tire area for my heapmilchmann wrote:LOL!!!
