North Dallas roll cages?

Post by 86boy »

Who knows of some reputable people that do QUALITY work, and can do roll cages? bending/welding to be a fit for the car. Not off of some bolt in cage or anything else like that. I'm not looking for some "quick fix" I want a roll cage I can depend on if I would happen to roll, or am involved in a hardcore wreck.

think most people around north texas will take their cars to Autocomp to get stuff done.

Kustomz Unlimited built Nate's car a long while back, so that may be an option as well.

Autocomp certainly knows Corollas and fab work.

If they're backed up with work, three good friends of mine have had cages for their Supras done by James B, he's out of Sanger.

Autocomp is certainly more familiar with drift car builds and road racing. James B mainly does drag stuff.

If you're ok with bringing your car to Houston, Casey Quillen does really nice cages. IIRC, he did Brad Burnett's.

depends on the cost vs quality mainly... if it was worth the time/effort/money to go to Houston I will.

Here's what Casey told me Christopher:
Casey Quillen wrote:Hey Jonas, I do still do cages. Price is dependent on options, but they start around $1500 for a 6pt. Turnaround is generally a week.

holy 1500! Looks like I'll be waiting a little longer for a cage... I need to learn how to weld....like soon! I paid $300 for 60' of DOM 2 1/2 x 0.020 (IIRC). that much for bending/cutting/welding. That's insane! I'm in the wrong industry! lol!!

Drifting. I want to do it myself.... but I don't have all the require tools to do so. Ie. Bender, welder, grinder, etc. I have the tools to fix Mechanical problems. nothing really for that fab life :-P That's next on the list though for tools to buy.

Its all depends of what style of Rollcage you want but can still do it with out tube bender, Grinder $20 Harbor freight, Welder also harbor freight Tig and a tank is the most expesive arour rollcage dont have to pass certification so can be Mig also. Dont means you going to build a Krapy Rollcage but find proper advise.
I did mine!!! I got help when i got unsure and it pass certification from NHRA.

I didn't try say mine pass with out bends. What I meant was you don't need a Tube bender you can order the Tubes pre bend from Jegs. Still safe if the welds have good penetration. Don't know the restrictions or regulations you guys have on Drifting

If you think you are talented enough to handle or learn a Tig welder invest your money on one, Don't have to be the most expensive one.
