catbon fiber hatch

Post by suprastarr »

Has anyone bought a carbon fiber hatch? My question is is the quality good and does it come with the rear glass or will I have to swap the rear glass from my hatch?

I've been tempted to get a carbon hatch... haven't pulled the trigger though. It appears that it does not have the "latch" as all the CF hatches I've seen all have the straps like the front bumper to fender are held up.

If money's a primary issue, then stick with what you have, lol

/\ True Story or do Fiberglass which is about 1/2 the cost. Or do it yourself which would be the cost of materials ;)

Run free makes a hatch, none of them come with glass. You need to swap everything over

Here is a couple I've found, I haven't used either, so I can't really vouch for the quality.
CF-

Fiberglass-

TRD Fiberglass- (Shipping would be insane, I'm sure..)

Cusco also makes a fiberglass hatch. Been running one for about 8 years.

I have the VIS carbon hatch. It's decent, I really only got it because I got a great deal on it and my factory hatch was rusted out, or I probably would've gone with fiberglass for the cost. It does have threaded holes to mount the latch but doesn't have the rigidity to be held down only by the latch. I've got hood pins holding mine down, and ended up not even running the latch because it's just an extra step in opening the hatch. Overall I like it and think the quality is good, definitely much lighter.
