BC Racing rear adjustment procedure

Post by c4ptiv3 »

I can't find out the proper way to adjust the rear suspension height/preload on the ae86, I've even emailed tech support and they haven't replied. Searching the internet this was all I could find on the subject and it was off the BMW forums.

"According to BC, ride height is determined by shock height, not the springs. The adjustment perches for the springs control preload. The threaded shock body will provide height.

The reason why you have to adjust the rear spring perches along with the rear shock is so you don't ride on the springs or bottom out on the shocks or vice versa.

To properly adjust the rear, set your spring perches to your desired height. Then jack up the rear until the spring is compressed about 5mm or so. Now thread up your shock until the bolt holes on the lower shock match up.
"

Can anyone comment if this is the proper procedure or not?

That's for the fronts, they are a different setup. I need for the rears where the spring is separate from the strut.

EDIT: Someone sent me the proper link.

I'm not even sure I did mine correctly, I had a hell of a time measuring the springs with a shitty tiny measuring tape.
