to do list
Re: to do list
I never spun a cam bearing. Most 3TC builders, from what I've researched, don't even mess with the cam bearings unless they're really tore up. They don't really get much side load like rod bearings do so I'm not too worry right now. I've bought three sets of cam bearings so far for this build when I could've used the old ones to begin with. I believe they are machined after installation from factory which explains why aftermarket one never fit without modification. oh well live n learn.
Re: to do list
Ah, I thought we were talking about rod bearings. Cam bearings are easy to get to later if you needed. I ended up reusing mine too, but would never reuse rod bearings.

Re: to do list
My cam bearings are in the block. I had to buy this for installation. its easy to install on v8's but for a 3tc its slightly more difficult. because the center bearing is the smallest then they get larger towards each end of the block.

Re: to do list
What are the jet sizes on that R1 carb kit over factory R1 carb jets and will they be large enough to fuel that 1.8?
Re: to do list
I'll check when I get home Dr. O. Most definitely I'll need your input in this dept. when the time comes.
Re: to do list
@dr.occa the kit came with a 130, 134,& 138 main jets to choose from for this particular set of carbs. I was planning on using the 138 mains. It also came with springs, and adjustable needles. If this doesn't work, I'll jump to a different stage kit.
Re: to do list
I'd like to clarify on the cam bearing diameters for documentation purposes. The OD increase in size from the center bearing toward the back and front of engine. The ID however increase in size consecutively from rear to front like they normally should. I'm not quite sure why the block was design this way but im just glad I'm over that hump.

Re: to do list
Look at that: a reply from moi within 48 hrs.
I'd try the 138 mains. I'm assuming then the idle/pilot jets aren't tinkered with on these carbs. Still, it would be important to know the size of the idle jets.
What again are you running for a fuel pump? If it hasn't already been suggested, I suggest the R1 pump specific to the cycs that run those particular carbs.

Re: to do list
I was thinking like a Holley red but I'll look into the R1 pump. Once I open the carbs up I'll look for the idle jets and let you know. I'm guessing the higher staged kits have more included like the idle jets and what not. I still need to fab up manifold before running these carbs. I may have to use my "jetted"32/36 in the mean time.
