ever the martyr . give it a rest alex and lighten up. if you can't even laugh at yourself why come out into the sunlight. oh you the ever so mis-understood, persecuted trend setter, he who stands above the mindless crowd of ae86 enthusiasts. will's an ae86er, he didn't respond "predictably" but oh i forgot, he can do no wrong in your eyes unlike the rest of us no brain "little people".Overdrift wrote:dr.occa wrote:lolCBR_TOY wrote:truck drifting? helmet? some people just need not venture out....
I figured I would get this response from a bunch of ae86ers
you know, as much of an @55hole as you believe me to be, i do have a sense of humor. i know you do too and it's so much more fun around here when you show it.
so, back to your squished hilux...

Please do not interpret my comment as a degrading reflection of ones intelligence. I was only making a comment that I felt was true. Not many drifters support those who want to be different. It's like your signing away from the church and joining a colt. People look down upon you and laugh at you. Sorry for using religion as a example btw but it was the only way I could link my view point.
Will responded in a way that evoked no drama.
UNLIKE a few dramagarage.com users.
I have a sense of humor, but after getting into a bad accident and talking about it I really don't see why to start using it on this thread based on the recent addition to the thread.

well Alex, i'm glad you're ok. you seemed to make light of your own accident so some of us just followed your lead. that's all.Overdrift wrote:Please do not interpret my comment as a degrading reflection of ones intelligence. so, what's next on the list of cars to destroy sir
hopefully the hilux.
hvguy just cut the top off for me and is building me a roll cage.
I still can't believe I made it out of the accident without a scratch. I am still in disbelief almost a week later. The crash was pretty insane.
I'm going to try lowering the hilux to help balance it better, maybe over inflating the rear tires will help some as well. The only thing I know for sure is that I need more experience before I get back into a high speed drift with the hilux.

Do you have extensive knowledge of the toyota pickup?CBR_TOY wrote:or a better platform....
I met a guy a few years back that was drifting a el camino, he told me that people told him to get a better vehicle and that the el camino would never be a good drift car.
Its a good thing some people don't listen to the oblivious ignorance some people splirt out at times.
uhh yeah the el camino drifted for one year (in fd) and dissapeared for ever afterwards. I think a truck can make a good platform but it will be a uphill battle no matter what you doOverdrift wrote:Do you have extensive knowledge of the toyota pickup?CBR_TOY wrote:or a better platform....

don't take it too heart too much alex. besides, there are better platforms, you have to admit. noone on here has said that you can't drift the hilux. there are just better cars out there to choose from that have a great deal of performance support and especially for drifting/f1/time attack racing over the hilux. even the XRunner would be a more attractive choice imo.Overdrift wrote:Do you have extensive knowledge of the toyota pickup?CBR_TOY wrote:or a better platform....

besides, the el camino was never really a truck. come on. it was just another malibu with a chopped top. and in spite of the LS1 it was very slow compared to the majority of its competitors even early on in FD.
but, since we're talking about your hilux, here's a concern: do you still plan on drifting in one without lowering its center of gravity? if so, re-consider by "bowing down to the pagan god of lower stance". better stability and less likely hood (not 100% guarantee you won't flip but nothing is 100% fool proof in this life) of not haveing a re-run of your recent episode. 4x4 guys are always expecting "rollover rover" when they go play. why do you think they have those awesome windshield banners that say: IF YOU CAN READ THIS, FLIP ME OVER!
i've actually considered one myself because they're hilariously cool.
lol excellent reply jonas.
Well said, I will agree with that there are other platforms but the opinion that their are better platforms is still a opinion in my mind. I can't find any proof that the hilux is a bad platform besides hear say. The lack of aftermarket suspension support is a drag but that is common with a lot of different cars.

I have seen the same. The solid frame allows for a lot of modification and experimentation. I think the ability to experiment vs expensive aftermarket suspensions for a unibody chassis is the winning factor in my mind. But we will see, I have someone offering me a good deal of money for the truck as it sits (more money than what I originally paid for it)nt66 wrote:I think it could be a decent platform leaf springs are HORRIBLE for peformance and upgrading but ive seen a hilux with a mk3 supra rear suspension so anything is possible
