Hey guys the name is Michael. I'm 17 years old and this is my first car. I currently live in Round Rock,TX, but im am moving to Hutto in a week. I just purchased a 1986 Toyota Corolla SR-5 coupe. Its a 5-speed 4-ae motor. Its pretty clean for its age. The rear end is howling pretty bad, but apparently this is normal for this car. For a first car, I'm pretty happy. I just need to learn how to drive stick. I'm thinking of doing a swap in the future because the motor is pretty old. Have any of you had a high mileage motor that still runs great? Because I wont mind keeping this motor if all I need to do is just give it a tune up and keep it maintained. Anyway here are the pictures.
And you will probably hear me asking a fair amount a questions regarding the car because 1. I loved Nissans and 2. I dont know much about cars. Hopefully there are other corollas close by me.

welcome aboard the 86garage.com love boat.
yes, you did luck out on the dash. from the pics, no visible cracks. that's already a point in your favor as far as these cars go. don't part with the dash unless you HAVE TO upon the pain of death. and if you just HAVE TO strip the car, crackless dashes go for upwards of $200.
anyway, welcome again.

....so, how's the weather in austin?
I seem to be one of those people. lol I vave a GTS hatch that needs only a tranny clip and water outlet. and a SR5 tvat in the middle of a Auto to 5 speed conversion. and im about to pick up another GTS if all goes correct. So yea AE86 are alot of fun , I mean there not built for speed of the line but its fun to just enjoy a simple ride down a road and fall in love with your car and knowing that you own a very well crafted TOYOTA!!! Reliable , fun , easy to maintain and to be honest you usually only get to pick 2 out of tve three. And with toyota you get all 3!!! :D
