An exercise in Mexellence (my 86 hatch project)
thanks guys!
Yah, the hub is sweet. Now i need to make the rest of the car awesome.
Yeah, Doc, I cut the bumpstops! Dont you worry about that.
And yeah the buddy club is STRAIGHT through. My friend with the spec miata was like "whoa, I think your exhaust is going to be louder than ours!".
Speaking of exhausts does anyone have a stock downpipe or a TRD header they want to get rid of?
landslideATX says hes got one but he cant hook me up until the 23rd of may. Im looking to get something a little sooner...

w00t! Updates!!
So yeah, its loud. LOUD. Im going to do a drive-by vid eventually. I may end up putting in a muffler where the cat used to be or a cat if its the same ID as the test pipe.
A big thanks to HondaRue who came over and helped me sort this thing out.
Up next:
-LSD rebuild
-New Rear wheel bearings
-adjustable four-links
I got all the parts, I just need to install them..... =P

UPdates:
frikkin hondarue all up in my binissss.
Adjustable 4 links installed (with help from hondarue). It feels like theres some play somewhere. I need to do a nut and bolt check and see whats going on. We also got the spark plugs changed, oil changed, brake fluid bled, and...
Yeah.... booiiiiiii!
artsy fartsy
The event! My exhaust was ridiculously loud. I really like the way it looks, but I dont like the way it sounds (with our without the silencer). When I was running the course, all the course workers were holding their ears! I want to make a quiet underaxle exhaust that bolts up directly to the downpipe and does away with the test pipe. I think ill draw it up later when I get my car back. Right now its in the shop because it got a slight bump on the rear drivers side quarter panel.
Other then the exhaust being so loud, I had fun at the event. I beat both of my room mates (240z and Evo . Although, to be fair to them, I had the azenis, and they were on street tires. Oh well, I was still down 60hp on the Z and maybe 200 on the evo.
My impressions of the car with the sticky tires are:
-Too much inside tire lift mid corner (even highspeed corners!) and too much oversteer. Solution: Remove rear sway bar or install stiffer front sway bar. Ill rebuild the LSD first and then see how the car behaves before I do either of those.
-Stock seats SUCK! Solution: Racing bucket up front.
-Power good, but I need another 1000 RPM. There were times when I had to ride the rev limiter because there was a straight that was fast enough to exhaust 2nd but not worth shifting into 3rd.
-brake pedal feel is CRAPPY but it will lock up the brakes. I think i need to install a new brake master cylinder and make sure there are no leaks on the lines. I know theres one on the rear axle. Aaron tightened it pretty good, but I dont know if it fixed it or not.

Results are up. Pretty promising I think considering how much the car sucked! Im 2.3 seconds behind the fastest miata. Which kind of sucks, but the car didnt feel awesome at all so Im pretty confident I can make up that time.

Took the car to the body shop to get the leak in the rear window fixed. The hatch was rusted beyond repair. I figured if there was a time to buy a carbon hatch, this was it.
A big thanks to Precision Autobody. If anyone needs bodywork done in the DFW area, I highly recommend them.

Anyway, now that the car is back from the body shop its time to fix the rear breaks, swap the rear bearings and rebuild the LSD.

More updates:
So I thought I had an LSD cuz of this sticker. But as we were taking apart the diff HondaRue was saying it looked weird. We popped the third member and...
weaksauce. So I contemplated getting a used factory lsd, but then Id have to cut the axles to fit the stock lsd in. So I said "Eff that." and dropped the big ones on this!
YEAH SON!
Hopefully Ill get it in this weekend.
