A friend of mine in SA ported his 4ac head and bench tested it, this first porting job looked just like yours, then he re-ground it to be less of an angle and it made a HUGE difference.

good thing i asked for your advice.

sure thing mr. expert
How anti social and ignorant.
Im just giving advice. Its your choice to use or dis guard it.

NOONE solicited you for your tuning expertise you pretentious...

I'M IGNORANT!? HAHAHAHAHA! if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black! good one orlando.

you need a real dad very badly to have taught you how developing young men should act and carry themselves as well as proper critical thinking skills to exercise prior to making public critiques about another's character. pluck the beam from your eye before you attempt to pluck the mote from mine.

i'm anti-social? you haven't the faintest idea on how to display or exercise any proper social class to begin with Orlando.

the thread i'm using to journal my car and engine builds and mis-adventures are for my interest and others who are interested.

you're undisciplined. you're unfocused. you display scatter-brain tendencies with your inability to keep your comments and post on or even close to topic w/o turning it into a starbucks patio conversation or displaying your faux-genius witticisms and straying mind comments every thread you start is just a depressing cry for attention. every "modification" you've come up with for your AE8SICK has been a butcher job and an uneducated, un-insightful, presumptuous, ill-informed, failure after the next.

you didn't even know how to properly install coilover collars on your front shock casings. your lack of exhaust flow knowledge and stubborn, self-aggrandizing attitude about your own "intelligence" deemed it unnecessary for you to employ the intelligence of far more experienced tuning engineers w/ years of tuning when "designing" your own exhaust and arguing with "the internet world" how it "still" works. then re-directing it into your cabin area w/o any fore thought of possibly incapacitating your hearing or lungs.

again, your poor air-inlet hood design that neither directed air properly to your carburetor's throttle body AND allowed for flying debris, rain, etc.. to fly directly into your timing belt & cam gear, belts and everything else in the engine bay virtually making your entire underhood area a big dust pan; was a failure both in utility and aesthetics.

shall i go on? based on your oh so successful and well executed "performance upgrades" you've applied to your platform, you're continued harassment of me via pm's on how i SHOULD perform moderating duties & complaints of why i deleted this post or locked this pet thread of yours; gee, i wonder why i would so "ALL OF A SUDDEN" display some supposedly "unwarranted" annoyance, vexation with your "advice" via a short quip delivered in a public post.

think before you speak. think before you react. measure your words before you just dump the garbage you've piled up in your cranium as some revolutionary response in your "just cause".

you're not welcome in this particular thread anymore Orlando.

the engine's about ready to go back in.

* admin note: yeah, this post took the place of a certain someone's attempt at reprimanding me for going off topic in my own thread w/ the above post.

engine's in the bay now.

i've decided to experiment w/ a custom intake mani gasket. i picked up some cork material that is supposedly good for carburetor mating surfaces: resists fuel, oil, etc...we'll see. the gasket is about 4mm in thickness. i also plan to get some thick plastic washers from the hardware store to replace the metal ones when bolting down the intake. i'm only attempting to reduce even more metal to metal contact between the head and mani. they may melt and they may not. i'm going to hope for the best.

i'll also be using some gasket sealant that's also fuel, oil, etc...resistant to help firm up/bolster the cork material.

so between the washers, cork material and sealant, the intake should experience decent isolation from the head in regards to heat conductivity. this should bring temperatures down on the incoming air: cooler air, more oxygen molecules.

me too. maybe it'll be out at GSS the 14th. but i won't be beating on it for bit. i'm going to try to re-introduce the engine gradually to 2008. it had been taking a rip van winkle nap most likely since the late 80's early 90's.

i don't know about it being a beast. maybe a spunky chihuahua but even they're pretty hard to catch at times

i'm going to drive TO gss but not at gss. i'm going to re-break in the engine after it's long nap.

i'm going to see about bringing some of those limited run 86garage.com stickers too.

the engine will be seeing the light of day for the first time after many years and at the same time learning to breath with a bigger set of "pipes" so to speak because of the 278 cams.

so, we'll see.
