So, my radiator is leaking. What's the smartest thing to do?

Post by mexellent »

Ok. So I found a leak on top of my radiator. Its super tiny, but it looks like its about to let go. My initial imulse is to go buy a sweet aftermarket radiator, but I know its going to be overkill. I just dont want to buy a new radiator only to chunk it later because its too small. Or maybe I can find a radiator (such as a taurus or vw) with electric fans already on it? I just wan to find out what options I have available.

you can use a civic radiator. the aluminum ones on ebay are cheap and it also frees up some space under the hood. or you could use a stock civic radiator that comes with an efan.

Whoa dang... I JUST ordered a new radiator. However, this caused me to find something REALLY cool. TRD bible says if you want to upgrade your radiator, just stick an SR5 auto radiator in it!!

And the radiator I ordered.

temporary fix heat up the engine and crack open two raw eggs and pour the contents into the radiator. won't fix it forever but will work for a while

do you have to run custom lines with this setup?

It depends on where you mount the radiator.

I mounted mine in the center & I will need a custom top hose, lower hose is ok. Heres an old pic:

You will also have to relocate one of your lower mounts & make/move the top mount.

If you mount it offset to the passenger side, the hoses will line up.

If you're looking for a cheap fix just JB weld the thing :).
