4age from an mr2?

Post by j1mb0 »

I found a mr2 4age that a guy wants to sell me for $100. It lost compression in one cylinder. He says that it was running when is pulled it a couple weeks ago. This motor will be used in my sr5 corolla but want some opinions on if I want to try to rebuild this engine.

So the question is should I pick this motor up and start collecting other parts to make it work or pass and try to find a 4age from a gts?

Thanks!

What I have in my hatch. Honestly the hardest part was finding the water pump assembly for a rwd. Got one off buddy on cl*b4ag. Also the intake manifold is backwards, mine didn't have any pulleys on it but the may also be for a FWD setup. Aside from that, source an alternator bracket to relocate the alternator to comply with the other misc RWD stuff. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

I did that same MR2 into a GTS swap. plus side was..I had everything from the blown GTS engine. water lines, intake manifold, exhaust manifold (mine was weird), water lines, pulleys, might have to extend the MR2 harness... I'm not sure how far it will reach. It's not to bad. Although I didn't swap mine into an SR5. hardest part as already stated is finding the RWD stuff.

well there is that way of learning... haha jk If you have a basic 3/8 metric socket set, and metric wrenches... that's all I used on my swap. minus the engine crane I borrowed haha. You're down there in Texas see if one of these guys would be willing to stop by and help out. Most of those guys would be willing to swing by and help out. Also if you get stuck.. questions on here with pics or w/e! You're call though! lol
