Here's a great picture from ga_goosh showing a major difference between the FWD(L) and RWD(R) water pumps.

This should also reinforce why one should either use all RWD or all FWD pulleys and not mix-n-match.
Also, one should be fine with the FWD/transverse wp if going with an e-fan setup. DO NOT use the FWD/transverse wp with a clutch fan. Imminent and "catastrophic" failure will be your reward. Look below:

Good to know, I definitely would've used the fwd with my set just because its the one that came off it.

They both should work with an e-fan setup but only the RWD pump will do for the clutch fan route.

ok so i had a chance to have the FWD and the RWD water pump pulleys at hand so here is the results. the one on the left is RWD in 1st pics top in the second pic. hope this helps some one in the future :tu:
