Can the ae86 diff be welded on the car? or does it have to be taken out? i got my z31's diff welded while still on the car. the spider gears were easy to get to.

Toyota's have 3rd members. Where the gears and bearings are housed in a removable device.
IT doesn't take much to remove it though.

you have to pull the axles out to get that third member off. its not like a nissan where it just has a plate on the back of the diff.
