What is this?

The only thing I can think of is an extension piece for the cruise control. It has an 2 wire electrical connection and what appears to be an encased reluctor wheel. It wasnt hooked up electrically but it it was inline with the speedo cable as you can see. Or is this a OEM piece? If it's an addition, I'm removing it.

On an AE86? It's appears to be an unnecessary addition.

On my car that DID have cruise control originally, it didn't have that...

Yep on an AE86 chassis. Mine had cruise control added to the car so this very well may be an uneccessary addition.

hmm. I know this is an old thread but I just installed this in my car and assumed it was normal until I saw this post. my car did previously have cruise so thats probably what it is. anyways, glad to know I can ditch this.
