Re: XDC Round 5 DFW, SEPT 25, NST Homecoming!
damn man, at that point i was actually thinking about asking the nst guys if they knew you, but i didn't wanna look like an ass. if there are any more events in dallas from here on out the wife and I will be there.
the wet surface was only for the qualifying as someone said, and to be honest, it made it suck and i was worried the whole day was gonna suck. when it was wet, they didn't come in to the first corner as fast for fear of spinning out, they also barely hit rev limiters due to the fact that it took very little effort to break traction. and lastly there was no tire screaming or tire smoke.
but when the track dried up shit got crazy.... that was my first time at a drifting event, and i am hooked, before it was just something that i dabbled in here and there, but now it is a need.
so here is my plan..... since i do so love the 93-97 corolla, and i have 2 of them sitting around, and a silvertop in the storage unit...... i am going to take the better of the 2 chassis and start building a roll cage for structural reasons, i will then remove gas tank, and cut out necessary trunk to get the rear end positioned where I need it. the reason i was going to start with the rear end is because in my mind the rear end has to be aligned with chassis and the motor can be moved to line up with rear end... correct?
then I can have an idea where the driveshaft tunnel and firewall need to be cut, i mean it is not going to be rocket science, but I do want the car daily driveable. I will be doing away with everything heat/ac related other than blower and defroster.
anyways, you see where i am going with this. i talked about doing this before but never dove into it, this is not the case this time. if anyone wants to contribute to my cause, it would be greatly appreciated, i already have engine, and clutch, and car was manual so pedal assembly is already there.
i need to know which trans is the best to go with? right now i am not going to try to go extreme with a 6 speed, i just want to get this thing functional. from there i can improve everything.
I will also need a rear end, if anyone has a cheap one or free one, lemme know. the only other big issue i am predicting is the driveshaft, but hopefully it is just too long and I can get it cut down and balanced.
my thinking on wiring is that, I have a harness for a 93-97 corolla chassis custom made to make the silvertop plug and play, as long as I use the stock fuse boxes ( but relocated and replumb wiring ) I should still have a plug and play harness.
If anyone has any parts or services or ideas or just general input that may help, i am open to hear it. If your comment is negative, keep it to yourself, I have enough factors in my life trying to hold me back from something like this.
this is not something that is gonna happen over night and it may look like a frankenstein POS because I don't have a good pipe bender, but my main goal in this is to make it happen, once it is functional and somewhat dependable, I can improve things and clean things up?
i kinda need some ideas about the mapping of the roll cage bars and stuff like that. now that i have a computer i can research alot of this stuff, but i figured it can never hurt to have more people helping.
well that is all for now, if this is in the wrong thread area or whatever then could someone please move it or delete it and lemme know and I will start a new one.
P.S.- what rearend should I use, or do you guys think i should start at the other end?
P.P.S.- i will be pulling this chassis out of the woods and getting it in to the shop and begin stripping it out on tuesday

That was Vene... 3' tall, and around! JK!!! Yeah the event was awesome and loved every minute of it except for my diff issue. Got it fixed at 1a.m. this morning and she's back on the road. Thanks to Fivehunsky for the gears, but I grabbed the wrong ring gear off the table and didn't find out til I was back home. Tedd(JDMwhiteboy) was a lifesaver last night and loaned me the carrier and axles out of his new gts.
Re: XDC Round 5 DFW, SEPT 25, NST Homecoming!
i was like 2 rows from the top and a row behind someone wearing a white nst shirt! on the big set of bleachers. i am so pissed that i was too lazy to get on here and let everyone know I was going. next time that will not happen though, since saturday this site is my new addiction. tomorrow the chassis gets put in the shop and I start stripping it and building the roll cage. what diameter and schedule pipe would someone recommend?

kaos I think that was me u saw in the nst shirt. i was near the top over to the left like below the judges. Also your corolla build sounds great, now we all expect you to start a build thread and post plenty of pics!!!
I like cars, food, and puppies.
Re: XDC Round 5 DFW, SEPT 25, NST Homecoming!
yeah, i was standing behind my wife, you were sitting next to the aisle. it is chapping my ass how many people were there that I didn't really get to meet. I am gonna get a shirt made and it is gonna say, " hi my name is kaos " and under it it is gonna list the websites that I am kaos on, so people might just feel inclined to approach me and introduce themselves. I really would have liked to meet mooreofit, we have talked on phone a few times about megasquirt and he seems cool as hell.
and as far as the build thread goes, I will start one.
updates won't be that hard anymore either, those pics i posted were taken on a palm pre plus, which my wife has and they look to me like they have good quality and that is the phone i am getting so it will be cool! steering is the only thing that I am not sure how I am going to do.

If Losey had remembered his roots, he might have done better! And wouldn't have plowed the front bumper off.

bt20v burned him after qualifying about his whole clutch kick ebrake comments at Nate during the Mexican standoff... He looked pissed as hell!
