curb weight...

Post by landslideATX »

can some one tell me what the curb weight for a hatch is? my friend has a 85 celica gt-s and it weighs 3600, my coupe weighs 3150. i'm running kyb agx's from a sw20 on the front. he has pretty much the same suspension all around. only difference is the rear end is irs insted of solid. we want to set him up with the same set up i have. what i'm trying to find out is if they shocks are going to be able to handle it. the weight difference that is. let me know. thanks.

the weight on the door is what the car weighs loaded to full capacity

get on a celica forum or search on google what it weighs from the same model car. i doubt it will be somewhere close the 86 is pretty light that why allot of people choose to drift it.

i know the weight of his car. its 3600 on the door. what i'm trying to find out is if the same suspension setup i'm running will work for him so he can start drifting. i'm running kyb agx sw20 fronts and camaro rears. i know everything will fit. i just want to know if we are going to blow it out due to the weight of his car.

it's doubtful you'll blow the shocks.

the SW20 curb weight is ~2,703 lbs

the 86 average curb weight is ~2,080-2,178 lbs

the 82-85 celica curb weight is 2,496 - 2,705 lbs

the camaro weighs more (~3400 lbs) than the celica and 86. the SW20 front shocks are used by 86s and other front heavy cars like it but are still lighter if not equally heavy. spring rates/rebound are what's important in keeping ANY shock from being ruined.

fitment is another concern. isn't the 85 GT-S Celica outfitted with IRS? i'm not as familiar with its suspension setup but how its current rear shocks are mounted will determine if the camaro rear shocks are applicable.
