a little update...before & after

Post by morgan »

so I bought the car back in early 2007 and had it shipped from cali...we have rust issues on the east coast. after a few years of working on it, Jonas(@dr.occa) emailed me asking if I was interested in being in an issue of the 86garage magazine. sure I said, and things got underway. heres what the 86 looked like in the issue as a refresher...

...but, it didn't look like that, no where near close when that issue came out. this was the state at that time...tear down began on 11/22/2011
Image
which became continuously worse as time went on.

but I kept at it, and things started to look up for me.

I had almost everything done, and then I moved. new place had no garage and I left it at a friends house for the winter of 2013/14...where it sat for months.
Image

until about a month ago when I finally bit the bullet and brought it to the paint shop.
Image

then the pics started coming in via text to my delight!
Image
Image

I was called up, she was ready 7 days after dropping it off, so I headed down to pic her up. this is what I saw as I pulled up...love at first sight. the color was perfect. so time to load her up...again.

after some reassembly and about 2 weeks, heres where im at, damn near done.

me and the family have been enjoying it greatly, me more so when the kids aren't in the car. been beating on her. took a little over 2.5 years and its was well worth it. only things left are these parts which I ordered thru EP Importers and are scheduled to arrive next week...zenki jdm rear bumper skin that needs to be cleaned up, zenki jdm grill, and a bnib black privacy cover.

time to take a break and have some fun before the next stage of the build.

Long overdue update, things are finally getting done.

found some jdm zenki lights to refinish.
Image
Image
Image

and put some decals on, with the 20v in mind
Image
Image
Image

spent a few minutes whenever I could over the summer finishing this up.
Image
mocked up a Swangbiz bar
Image
...and finished the install up, finally.
Image
now the rear matches the front.
Image

started piecing together a new suspension setup.
Image

enjoying it whenever I can in the mountains of NY/NJ
Image
Image

received all the parts and started burning the midnight oil...
AGX sw20 shocks up front, AGX Camaro rears
Eibach 400lb/in(7.14kg) front springs
TRD 5.1kg rear springs
new prothane bushings

not sure when but theres a bit more planned; rebuild the rear and some minor motor work.
